Within Essex we have the Essex County Women’s Football League which caters for female players aged 16+ and the Essex County Girls League offering competitive opportunities for players aged up to 18 years old. In addition to this, the Brentwood Community Football Alliance and South East Essex Primary Mini Soccer League are participating in a pilot scheme allowing girls' teams to play one year group down.

For individuals, youth football is mixed up to and including the U18s age group.
