There is a Football Debt Recovery process available to clubs seeking to recoup money from an individual.

A club has 112 days from the discipline notification or match day (if match day subscription fees) to write to the player (letter or email) giving them a breakdown of what they owe and how this is made up. The club should also issue a payment deadline date that falls within the 112 day-period.

If they don’t pay by the date you have provided, please send a copy of the letter, along with a £25 administration fee (which gets added onto the amount already owed) to Essex FA. You do not need to wait until the end of the 112-day period before sending this in.

We will then write to the individual and give them 21 days to pay or they will be sine die suspended until such time as the debt is paid to Essex FA. The club will be reimbursed upon payment.
